Earlier in November, I had the chance to attend the Fall Charter Yacht Show at Nanny Cay Marina in the British Virgin Islands—an event hosted by the BVI Charter Yacht Society that brings together some of the best crews and sailing catamarans in the region. Over several days, I toured a wide variety of yachts, met countless passionate captains and chefs, sampled incredible cuisine, and gained firsthand insight into what truly sets each vessel apart. It was an amazing experience filled with great conversations, fun events, and a deeper appreciation for the people who make these charters so special. Below are 12 sailing catamarans I would not hesitate to recommend for 2026, listed from the most affordable upward. Each one is a yacht I personally stepped aboard and a crew I’ve spent time with—and many of whom I continue to stay in touch with today.
2016 Lagoon 45 “Neon Moon”
Neon Moon was one of the most genuinely feel-good visits I had at the BVI Fall Charter Show. Captain Craig and his partner Tara were easily among the friendliest and most enthusiastic crews I met—their eyes honestly lit up the entire time we talked. They’re a super genuine couple who clearly love what they do, and there’s something refreshingly real about the way they run their boat. One of the most unique parts of their charter is that they live aboard with their dog, Jasper—a ridiculously chill cocker-poodle mix who seems born for island life. They joked that Jasper acts as a natural “guest filter,” and it made me laugh because it’s true—you can tell instantly if someone’s a good personality fit just by how they vibe with him.
Neon Moon is a 2016 Lagoon 450F, chartering exclusively in the British Virgin Islands, and while the boat isn’t cosmetically perfect, it’s absolutely comfortable, clean, and cared for. It did sustain some damage during Hurricane Irma years ago, but every repair was done professionally, and unless someone told you, you’d never know—it feels solid and well-kept inside. The layout includes three guest cabins (the fourth is for the crew), making it a great fit for groups of up to six guests looking for a fun, relaxed, affordable charter option without the pressure or pretense you find on some higher-end yachts.
Another thing that sets Neon Moon apart is their half-board model—meaning some meals are prepared onboard, while others are enjoyed ashore at local restaurants. It’s perfect for guests who want a balance between home-cooked comfort and experiencing the amazing food scene around the BVI. Between Craig’s calm, experienced captaincy, Tara’s bright, adventurous personality, and Jasper’s adorable presence, the entire experience feels warm, authentic, and unusually personal. If you’re looking for a budget-friendly, family-style charter run by truly good people, Neon Moon deserves a place at the top of your list.

2012 Lagoon 45 “Gypsy Princess”
Gypsy Princess is one of those yachts that instantly puts you at ease the moment you step aboard. As a 2012 Lagoon 450F, she sits on the lower end of the price range for fully crewed charters—making her a fantastic option for guests who want the comfort of a private yacht with crew, without the premium luxury price tag. The boat is older and not cosmetically perfect, but that’s exactly why she’s such a great value. The layout is classic and cozy, with three guest cabins for up to six guests, plenty of outdoor lounging space, and a relaxed atmosphere that makes you feel like you’re slipping into island life the moment you arrive.
What truly makes Gypsy Princess shine is her crew: Luc, the captain, and Justyna, the chef/mate. I found myself talking with them for quite a while about sailing, travel, and chartering, and they have such a calm, grounded, kind presence that you instantly feel comfortable around them. They’re the kind of people who allow guests to completely drop their guard and be themselves—a huge part of what makes a charter feel special. This will be their first full season chartering in the BVI, but they’re far from inexperienced. Their background includes hosting guests throughout the Mediterranean and the Grenadines, along with extensive sailing experience across transatlantic deliveries, Mallorca, Corsica, Sardinia, France, Martinique, and more. It’s a lovely mix of adventure, capability, and genuine hospitality.
For travelers searching for a budget-friendly, fully crewed charter in the BVI, Gypsy Princess is absolutely worth considering. You won’t find the shiny super-yacht aesthetics here—but you will find a well-cared-for boat, two wonderful humans, and the kind of atmosphere that makes you feel like you’re sailing with good friends who know how to take great care of you. If you’re more interested in warmth, connection, and exploration than high-end gloss, Gypsy Princess is a perfect match.

2022 Dufour 48 “Serenity”
Serenity is one of the most unique boats in the BVI charter world—not just because she’s a 2022 Dufour 48, but because only a small number of these yachts were ever built. Unlike the big manufacturers that mass-produce Lagoons and Bali catamarans by the hundreds, the Dufour 48 is far more rare, giving Serenity a distinctive, modern, and sleek profile that stands out everywhere she goes. Inside, she’s stylish, bright, and welcoming, with four guest cabins for up to eight passengers and a clean, contemporary design that’s a refreshing change from the usual charter lineup. While some of the interior details—like slightly creaky floorboards in the cabins—remind you that this isn’t a high-production boat, the vessel is overall immaculately maintained. With this crew, she’ll stay looking nearly new for years.
The real magic of Serenity lies in her crew: Tim (Captain) and Nikki (Chef/First Mate). From the moment I met them, I understood instantly why their program is one of the most popular in the entire BVI. They’re both South African, warm, friendly, and genuinely passionate about what they do. Their energy is the kind that immediately makes guests feel safe, relaxed, and welcomed. Tim has experience across Greece, Croatia, Antigua, and the BVI, and he’s a natural storyteller and adventure guide—whether it’s snorkeling spots, history, or hidden gems. Nikki brings a mix of culinary talent, hospitality, and joy that lights up the entire boat; her food, enthusiasm, and positive spirit truly elevate the charter experience. Together, they provide five-star service, and it shows—Serenity’s entire 2026 season is already booked, and they’re now taking reservations for 2027.
For travelers looking for a budget-friendly yet elevated fully crewed charter, Serenity is an exceptional option. You get a rare and beautifully designed yacht, an intimate layout perfect for families or small groups, and a crew whose energy makes every day brighter. Serenity may not have the ultra-luxury price tag, but with Tim and Nikki onboard, the experience feels every bit as special. If you want a unique yacht with an unforgettable crew, get your 2027 dates locked in early—Serenity is absolutely worth

2024 Lagoon 46 “On A Whim III”
I met the crew of On A Whim III at the 2025 Fall BVI Charter Show, and they were honestly one of the sweetest, most genuine couples there. Clara made me a kombucha that was hands-down the best I’ve ever had—and I normally can’t stand kombucha. She’s warm, personable, and clearly loves cooking and taking care of guests. Henru, the captain, is a South African Yachtmaster and Divemaster with a calm, enthusiastic vibe and a real passion for showing people an unforgettable time on the water. Together, they just radiate happiness and genuine joy for what they do.
The boat itself is immaculate—a 4-cabin Lagoon 46 with the crew taking one cabin, offering trips for up to 6 guests. It’s fully air-conditioned, beautifully laid out, and even has diving onboard with a compressor, so certified guests can get underwater without any hassle. Based full-time in the BVI, it’s the perfect setup for anyone looking for a relaxed, boutique-feel charter with a fun, talented, and genuinely caring crew.

2018 Lagoon 62 “Bagheera”
Bagheera L620 was one of the yachts that immediately left a strong impression on me. When I stepped aboard, the deck /steward Joey was the first to greet me—warm, professional, and clearly passionate about the boat he helps run. A moment later I met Chef Maisie, who had a selection of desserts out to try, and they were genuinely incredible. Together, those two bring a lot of heart to Bagheera; since they’re a couple who live on the boat full-time, you can really feel the consistency and pride they have in creating a great guest experience. And when Captain Ben joined the conversation—originally from the UK—he fit right into that same energy: upbeat, personable, and clearly someone who loves what he does. Seeing the three of them together, it was obvious that the chemistry and enthusiasm of the crew is one of Bagheera’s biggest strengths.
The yacht itself is just as impressive. Bagheera is a 2018 Lagoon 62, freshly refit in 2025, and she’s absolutely immaculate inside and out. The salon is spacious and bright, perfect for entertaining or relaxing after a day of exploring, and the 33-foot beam gives the whole boat a generous, open feel. With four queen cabins accommodating up to eight guests, full air-conditioning, a strong lineup of water toys (skis, wakeboard, paddleboards, snorkel gear), a 70HP tender, and twin high-capacity watermakers, the setup is ideal for groups who want comfort, activity, and plenty of space.
For charters in the British Virgin Islands, Bagheera L620 is a yacht I’d easily recommend. The boat is in excellent condition, but it’s the crew that truly elevates the experience—Ben, Maisie, and Joey all have that rare combination of skill, warmth, and genuine joy for what they do. In a charter world where crew dynamics can make or break a trip, Bagheera’s team really stands out as the kind of people you’d want to spend a week on the water with.

2025 Lagoon 55 “Stella Mare”
Stella Mare made one of the strongest impressions on me at the BVI Fall Charter Show—and it wasn’t a surprise to hear that she won 1st Place Best in Show (51–59 ft division). When I first approached the dock, the crew had cleverly moved the boat forward in the slip, creating a full water-toy display floating off the stern. It instantly gave a sense of what life looks like on charter: e-foils, paddleboards, and loungers drifting in the sun. Captain Ariel was in the middle of receiving a brand-new set of e-foils when I arrived, but he welcomed me aboard with calm confidence and gave me a full tour while Chef Matea finished chatting with other brokers. The boat is immaculate—a 2025 Lagoon 55 with a bright, open salon, elegant finishes, and one of the nicest forward seating areas in this size range, complete with a shaded sun-lounge over the bow that’s perfect for sunsets and breezy afternoons at anchor.
Ariel is a true local—born and raised in the BVI—and you can feel the connection he has with these islands. His calm demeanor, grounded presence, and deep knowledge of the area make him exactly the kind of captain you want guiding you from hidden beaches to secret snorkeling spots. Halfway through the tour, I met Matea, and within seconds it was obvious she is the heartbeat of Stella Mare. She brings this warm, enthusiastic, contagious energy—the kind of person who makes every day feel bright, engaging, and full of possibility. Her culinary background blends Croatian roots with a scientific approach to nutrition, so her food is not only delicious but thoughtfully crafted. I came back the following evening during one of the yacht-hop events, and Stella Mare threw a fantastic party complete with live island steel-drum music and Matea’s incredible dishes. Her food was insanely good—easily some of the best bites I had at the entire show.
Stella Mare is a perfect example of why the 55-foot luxury catamaran category is such a sweet spot. With four queen cabins for up to eight guests, a wide 30-foot beam, and beautifully designed spaces for lounging and dining, it strikes the perfect balance between comfort, style, and value. Add Ariel and Matea—two people who genuinely love what they do and complement each other perfectly—and you have a yacht that feels both high-end and wonderfully personal. These two bring so much heart, professionalism, and positivity to their charters that I have zero doubt they’ll absolutely crush every season ahead. Stella Mare should be at the top of anyone’s list when looking for a modern, luxurious, fun-filled charter in the BVI.

2024 Lagoon 55 “Rhapsody II”
Rhapsody II was one of those boats at the BVI Fall Charter Show that instantly made me smile—and that had everything to do with Terry and Ruth. These two have been running charters longer than anyone else at the show, yet they still radiate the same joy, humor, and genuine love for the job that you’d expect from someone just starting out. They’re Irish, and personally I think Irish people might be the funniest humans on earth—even when they’re not trying to be. Something about their presence just puts you in a good mood and reminds you that life is pretty great no matter what. That’s exactly what Terry and Ruth bring to their guests: lightness, laughter, calm confidence, and an endless collection of stories from decades on the water.
The yacht itself—a 2024 Lagoon 55—is absolutely immaculate. With four queen cabins for up to eight guests, a wide open 29.6-foot beam, modern salon, and spacious outdoor lounging spaces, it matches the same design and comfort of the newest Lagoons coming to the BVI. It’s essentially the sister-ship to Stella Mare, but what makes Rhapsody II truly special is the atmosphere Terry and Ruth create. Their experience is unmatched: they’ve run boats all over the Bahamas, Med, Caribbean, and Atlantic; crossed the ocean four times together; and have tens of thousands of miles under their belts. They’ve also lived in the BVI for over 12 years—long enough to know every hidden anchorage, friendly face, and quiet corner of the islands.
If I were personally choosing a charter in the BVI, Rhapsody II would be very high on my list—maybe even my number one pick. There’s just something comforting about stepping aboard a beautiful, modern yacht and knowing you’re in the hands of two people who have devoted their lives to the sea, to hospitality, and to creating unforgettable experiences for their guests. Terry and Ruth know everyone, everywhere, and they know exactly how to tailor a week so that every guest—kids, adults, families, anyone—feels cared for and completely at home. You couldn’t ask for better hands to guide you through the Virgin Islands.

2014 Lagoon 62 “Do More”
The first thing that stood out to me about Do More was the crew. They’re the perfect blend of casual and professional—comfortable, funny, confident, and genuinely easy to be around. It’s the kind of energy that helps guests relax, open up, and have an unforgettable week on the water. With a crew of three, they have more than enough hands to deliver a smooth, attentive, luxury-level charter experience. Their chemistry is real, too. All from South Africa, Captain Adrian and chef/mate Emma met in high school and have been together ever since, and their deckhand and scuba instructor, Georgina, is Adrian’s sister. They’re a true boating family, and that connection is what really makes them stand out.
As for the yacht itself, she does show more cosmetic wear than newer, more modern counterparts—but that’s fully reflected in the pricing compared to other boats in this size range. At $43,500 all-inclusive for 8 guests, or $5,437.50 per person, Do More is one of the best-value crewed charter options out there. At Contigo Yachts, we believe the crew makes the experience more than anything else—and this team will absolutely do their part.

Ascension was one of the yachts that impressed me most at the BVI Fall Charter Show. As a 2018 Lagoon 62, she offers a massive entertaining space, a beautifully designed salon, and four queen cabins for up to eight guests, all maintained to an extremely high standard. The moment I stepped aboard, I met Captain Matías, who welcomed me with professionalism and warmth before giving me a detailed tour of the vessel. He explained the yacht’s history, the long-term owner they worked for, and how that owner never spares expenses on maintenance—which is obvious the second you step inside. Everything on Ascension is spotless, upgraded, and clearly cared for with intention. It truly feels like one of the best-kept Lagoon 62s in the entire Caribbean charter fleet.
Talking with Matías was a highlight. He’s not only deeply passionate about the ocean and about boats—he’s also an incredibly skilled engineer and waterman. Born in Argentina, he has sailed extensively across Brazil, Barcelona, The Bahamas, Belize, Mexico, The Grenadines, the Leeward Islands, and the Windwards as both a racer and a charter captain. He’s big into kitesurfing, foiling, winging, scuba diving, and fishing, and Ascension as a whole leans toward that adventurous, water-sports-loving style of charter. Their tender is fast, the toys are dialed in, and the crew loves getting guests out on the water. The entire team—Matías, Chef Eden from Mexico, and First Mate Maia—speaks Spanish and English fluently, making this an amazing option for Spanish-speaking guests or bilingual groups.
For the low-to-mid $40K price range, Ascension is honestly one of the strongest values out there for a 62-foot luxury catamaran. You get a meticulously maintained yacht, a super-competent and passionate captain, outstanding food, a warm and capable crew, and a boat that’s built for both relaxation and adventure. After seeing the level of care, energy, and professionalism onboard, I have zero doubt that this team consistently delivers unforgettable charters. If you’re looking for a Lagoon 62 experience at a very fair price point—with a crew that truly loves what they do—Ascension should absolutely be on your shortlist.

2024 Fountaine Pajot “Liquid Sky”
Liquid Sky stood out in the best way. The boat was immaculately clean and clearly maintained at a very high standard. Captain Simon is one of those captains who instantly earns your trust. It was evident that he’s an adventurous & meticulous professional shaped by years of guiding Class V whitewater, motorcycling from Canada to Argentina, and working across demanding marine environments. He’s calm, competent, engineering-minded, and also just an easy guy for guests to relax around. Chef Ashley brings a warm, Southern hospitality vibe paired with serious culinary skill rooted in her travels to 53 countries and training at the Ashburton Chefs Academy; her food is fresh, colorful, and health-forward. Rounding out the team is Caro, a talented deckhand, stewardess, and dive instructor whose background in shark diving, marine conservation, and global dive operations gives her a confident, upbeat presence guests really enjoy.
It also says a lot that Liquid Sky won Best in Show at the 2024 VIPCA Charter Yacht Show, because once you step onboard, it’s obvious why. The yacht is modern, luxurious, and thoughtfully laid out, with beautiful guest suites, great lounging areas, and even a foredeck hot tub—a rare perk in this size range. For 2026, weekly rates range from $48,000 to $54,000 for up to 6 guests, coming out to roughly $8,000 to $9,000 per person for a full group, which is strong value for a yacht and crew operating at this level. With its standout crew, exceptional presentation, and premium amenities, Liquid Sky is easily one of the best overall charter options in the Caribbean.

2024 Lagoon 77 “Aeolus”
Aeolus 77 was hands-down one of the most impressive yachts at the 2025 BVI Fall Charter Show. The moment I stepped aboard, I was greeted by First Mate Christo, who set the tone with an incredibly professional yet fun, upbeat energy. He clearly knows this yacht inside and out and gave me a detailed tour of every space—including the spectacular master cabin where a section of the hull folds open to create a private over-the-water terrace. It’s one of those features you have to see to believe. As we moved through the yacht, I met the rest of the crew—Captain Keith, Chef Casey, and Stewardess Chene—and the entire team radiated friendliness, confidence, and genuine passion for what they do. You can immediately tell this crew functions at a super-yacht level.
The yacht itself is a 2024 Lagoon 77, a floating sanctuary of modern luxury, featuring four queen suites for up to eight guests and maintained in absolutely immaculate condition
. With a huge 36-foot beam, expansive lounges, a refined interior, and multiple dining and relaxation zones, it feels like a boutique resort that just happens to move between the most beautiful anchorages in the Caribbean. And unlike the smaller charter cats at the show, Aeolus operates with four full-time crew, which means they are able to provide a level of service, attention, and experience that very few yachts can match. From high-end cuisine crafted by Chef Casey, to diving instruction, to sunset cocktails, to seamless daily operations, they deliver a truly elevated experience.
Where Aeolus really sets itself apart, though, is in its massive list of toys and experiences. They carry scuba gear, e-foils, paddleboards, underwater scooters, floating islands, sailing dinghies, and just about every water toy you can imagine
. The yacht is built for both relaxation and adventure, and the crew is clearly thrilled to help guests make the most of both. It’s no surprise that Aeolus won 1st place for “Best in Show – 60ft+ Division” at the event—after seeing the boat and meeting the crew, it felt completely deserved. For guests seeking an incredibly luxurious charter with top-tier service, gourmet dining, and unforgettable experiences on the water, Aeolus 77 is easily a 10/10 recommendation.

2022 Sunreef 80 “Endless Horizon”
Endless Horizon was the very first yacht I stepped aboard at the BVI Fall Charter Show, and it instantly set the bar sky-high for everything that followed. The moment I walked onto the stern platform, I felt like I had boarded a full-blown luxury superyacht—except somehow all of that megayacht presence is packed into an 80-foot Sunreef catamaran. Captain Jonathan greeted me warmly and gave me a complete tour of the yacht, from the massive interior salon to the expansive outdoor living spaces and the impressive array of watersports equipment. The sheer volume of space is mind-blowing: wide-open lounges, marble-accented bathrooms, huge cabins, and impeccably maintained finishes everywhere you look. It’s luxurious, bright, modern, and absolutely spotless.
Similar in size and crew structure to yachts like Aeolus, Endless Horizon offers a four-crew, ultra-luxury experience that rivals proper motor yachts. With four cabins for up to eight guests, including a king master suite and three queens, the yacht feels like a floating boutique resort with five-star service baked in. Jonathan’s calm, confident presence immediately makes you feel in good hands, and the rest of the crew—Chef Ulrika, Chief Stewardess Tracy, and Deckhand Mitchel—were all incredibly friendly, welcoming, and genuinely passionate about what they do. Their combined backgrounds span the Med, South Pacific, Bahamas, and Caribbean, and it shows in how smoothly and professionally they operate the boat.
One of the standout features of Endless Horizon is the sheer amount of toys and gear available. From underwater scooters to paddleboards, from wakeboarding and water skis to a powerful 16-foot tender, the yacht is built for fun on the water just as much as relaxation. With its 38-foot beam, sleek Sunreef design, high-end detailing throughout, and the kind of service that only a four-person crew can provide, this yacht delivers an experience far above its already premium price point. If you’re searching for a top-tier luxury charter in the BVI or Leewards, Endless Horizon should absolutely be at the top of your list. It’s a dream platform for anyone wanting a high-end, spacious, and unforgettable week on the water.
