Real Sailors, Real Stories, Real Service

Meet Rick Rodriguez

Rick Rodriguez has worked in the yachting industry since 2015, serving as crew on vessels ranging from 40ft sailboats to 180ft superyachts. He's sailed extensively through the Caribbean, Central America, the Bahamas, New England, the Pacific Northwest, and the South Pacific, building a life defined by adventure at sea.

In 2019, Rick and his partner launched Contigo Yacht Charter in memory of his father, who passed away while sailing the family catamaran Contigo. Despite the challenges of Covid-19, their Bahamas charter business quickly thrived, built on Rick's hands-on experience and love for the water.

In 2021, Rick purchased Raindancer, a classic Kelly Peterson 44, to pursue his dream of long-distance cruising. That dream took a dramatic turn in 2023 when Raindancer struck a fin whale in the remote Pacific and sank within minutes. Rick and his crew survived in a life raft and were rescued after days at sea-a story later featured in Yachting World Magazine.

These miles sailed, repairs made, and challenges faced ultimately led Rick to expand his work as a marine surveyor, consultant, and yacht broker. Through East West Marine Survey, LLC, he now applies This practical knowledge and technical expertise to help clients make safe, informed decisions when buying or maintaining a yacht.

What makes Rick unique is not just his qualifications, but his authenticity. When you call him, he might be working on his own boat, offshore on delivery, or sailing between islands. He knows firsthand what it's like to live aboard, troubleshoot, and cross oceans-experience that can't be learned from a classroom. Whether you're planning your first charter, buying a cruising boat, or seeking a thorough survey, Rick brings honesty, skill, and a sailor's eye for detail.

We are passionate about helping people make good, safe, and practical decisions when it comes to purchasing and maintaining yachts.
